It feels like ages ago when our home education families were working so hard at the allotment and in the greenhouse, preparing the site, sowing seeds, propagating cuttings, painting and making (don't forget pancakes in the tipi!). But they did a huge amount, and their work has been rewarded with a £100 prize from the Young People's Trust for the Environment!
This is what they wrote to us:
Judging for the Better Energy School Awards 2020 has now been completed. It gives me great pleasure to inform you that Crow Wood CIC's entry ’Growing an Allotment’ was Highly Commended in the Totally Active category for schools in northern England. On behalf of Total and the Young People's Trust for the Environment I would like to offer our congratulations to you and to all the children involved in the projects.
As a Highly Commended entrant, the school will be receiving a cheque for £100 and a special certificate to mark your achievements.
Even with the lockdown in place, we saw some fantastic entries this year and over 28,750 children got involved in submitting projects for the Awards. With this in mind, being Highly Commended is a considerable achievement.
It looks like the children are having a great time at Crow Wood and we loved seeing the photos of them hard at work and having fun! Enjoying the natural world and being outdoors is something we really like to encourage.
With best wishes
Peter
