Although today on the allotment we were doing battle with the bindweed (it's never ending!), it was lovely to take stock and enjoy how much produce there is right now. Some things have been quite a surprise, especially because we couldn't work together during lockdown, and so we were planting things that the other people didn't know about!
We have squash, cucumbers, green and yellow courgettes, and marrows - which were all quite difficult to tell apart when they were small plants! The runner beans and French beans are fantastic, as well as the indoor and outdoor tomatoes.
My current favourite (for our volunteers too) is the Swiss chard, which is absolutely delicious, raw or cooked - perfect in stir fry. It will keep going until the frosts!
