Introduction to carving

Katy

Our next art project is more 3D work. Over lockdown, our online art sessions concentrated on painting and drawing, so it's good to get back into the 'studio' (greenhouse!), and to be a bit messy!

We are using aerated concrete blocks, which are very lightweight and soft. You can make marks in them simply by scraping with a spoon or a screwdriver.

Over several sessions, our participants are becoming increasingly brave, and digging deeper into their blocks!

It's tricky to get the idea of working in three dimensions, so just having time to experiment and play around with techniques is proving to be very successful!
