Earlier in the year, we had a very successful introduction to making cordage (string) using both nettle stems and brambles. At our forest school site there was no shortage of material to use, and this is definitely something we'll develop in the spring. But at the moment, we're focusing on using different yarns and materials, and so a session making slinging braids was just what we needed! This is brilliant fun, very active, and creates some beautiful results! We started off working in pairs, but soon realised that if you can work in threes or fours (even more if you have space!) to make fantastic cordage.
