As we may have mentioned, we’ve been really lucky to take over the management of the vineyard plot at Rowditch Allotments. The vines were planted 15 years ago by a gentleman who is unfortunately too unwell now to keep looking after them.
As you can see, the vines were in desperate need of their winter prune plus some restoration pruning, but are now all set up for a -hopefully- good crop this summer.
These grapes are Regent, a German red variety good for eating, juicing and winemaking: We’re looking forwards to sharing the crop and running vine management sessions throughout each year for people interested in growing their own grape vines too!
